The inception of COVID-19 has indeed had a great effect on almost all of us. The usual luxuries of life that we tend to enjoy has now become an almost distance memory. In this period, safety come first. Everyone is being extra careful with what and whom they touch, nobody wants to risk getting infected. The owners of restaurants and food services including their employees are not left out from this daily struggle of being safe.
Now, with the lockdown gradually easing and restaurants begin to reopen, they must ensure the safety of their employees and customers. Restaurants must follow every guideline given by the world health organization to the last. Below are tips to ensure the safety of restaurants and food services during the pandemic.
Sick staff should be sent home
To be safe, is to ensure that the workers and servers at that restaurant are also safe. First of all, testing all your workers before reopening your restaurants is of high importance. You can never be too sure.
Secondly, if any of your staff shows any symptoms, no matter how little; they should be sent home immediately. To not do this is to put yourself and your customers at risk of contracting the disease. Sending your workers home shouldn’t mean you’re relieving them of their work permanently. Rather, you can offer a secured sick leave pay, which will be graciously accepted by the worker.
Ensure the use of facemasks or face shields for all customers and workers
I would advise that a sign that says “no facemask, no entry” be placed at the front of the restaurants. Let customers know how far you can go to ensure safety. Also, make sure that the rule is enforced by the security at the door. Ensure that it is strictly adhered to, so as to prevent any casualty.
Hand washing should be compulsory
Make sure every customer and employee properly washes their hand before entering the restaurant. Some people might insist that they’ve washed their hands in their home, this shouldn’t deter your rule. Gently insist that they rewash their hands using a soothing voice.
Staffs should be made to wash their hands at intervals also. They should wash their hands; between each meal they prepare, after touching surfaces, after touching money, after bathroom breaks, after cleaning the restaurant and before they leave the restaurant.read more helpful hints at https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public
Home delivery should be used
Delivery of food to the homes of customers will go a long way in practicing social distancing. This reduces the risk of contracting the disease by almost 90% because there would be hardly any contact between both parties.
Other tips include: proper handling of packages, educating drivers on safety, proper hygiene and limiting of food handling. These tips will go a long way in protecting your customers and employees. Try enforcing them, today!…
